Our current immigration system which forces parents to be separated from their children and husbands to be separated from their wives for years at a time is both cruel to immigrant families and unworthy of our country's proud heritage as a nation of immigrants. The immigration reform bill introduced by Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL.) and 90 co-sponsors on December 15 would improve the backlog-plagued family-based immigration system in a number of ways. We list some of the most significant changes below: 1) Immediate Relatives Would No Longer Be Subtracted from Preference Categories - Spouses, parents and children of U.S. citizens...

Hi,
If a person is on dependant visa (H4) and applies for green card with their spouse's green card application, can they apply for H1 as well?
Thanks,

As I understand , either there would be no bulletin revision(currently appearing impossible) or there would be a bulletin revision making some categories unavailable , in which case it doesnt matter even if your application has made it on July 2nd it will be returned. So why is the rush to get applications by mail/fedex/samedaydelivery/inpersondelivery/etc ?
Or is the rush to deliver only for those applicants with PDs in 2002-2004 who are hoping that their PD will make it in the new bulletin if it is not unavailable? I see no reason for the rush which seems to have increased after the rumor about the new bulletin on friday ...(although I personally asked my lawyer to send it on friday 6/29 and for which I have no confirmation if it was actually sent or not).

Hi,
My scenarios is this:
> Got approved H1-B petition and visa stamped till 31st July, 2011
> Traveling to US on June-15, 2011
> Planning to do a premium filing for an H1 extension once I am in the US - i.e. soon after June 15, 2011
1. Is there any rule that I have to be in the US for 8 weeks or so to apply for an H1-B extension?
2. Will there be some issue at the port of entry as I will have only 6 weeks left on my H1-B visa?
Appreciate any inputs on this.
Regards,
James A.

Even when officers work on your files, there may not be any LUDs.
If you input all your case numbers (old H1B approvals etc), you will see that those get LUDs once in a while. They may be batch jobs or someone pulling files frequently or filing old applications etc.
Since your PD is a few months away, it is best to just relax and hope your applications are preadjudicated. When your PD becomes current, then go the Service Request - infopass - senator/ombudsman route.
If you are that interested, take infopass appointments and find out where your application is. If the CIS person is friendly, they give out a lot of information. Dress well and talk politely.

Sorry Steve,
I was using a different web browser (Mozilla) and it wasn't showing the image. I've always used it and it has worked fine, but for some reason these two pics it won't show. On Explorer it will, sorry for the trouble. All ok.
