Hey all,
hope you guys have visited the IV physicians blogspot.It is very good.One of the bloggers mentioned about supporting such a move, but the question is how do we start.I myself is technlogically challenged so we have to get the expertise of the IT people.I think we should start now.

You are being too naive by giving benefit of doubt to senators and blaming some lowly staffer. The senators and there cohots (aka ron hira etc) who wrote this law wrote it specifically so that
1. to make it difficult to get green card through h1b route
2. make life even more difficult for people already stuck in retrogression.
I wonder where the famous "compassion" that both democrats and republicans talk about while giving amnesty aka Z visa to illegals who came here as early as Jan 1 2007 but are sticking it to us EB folkes who have been here following the rules and paying taxes for the last 7 to 8 years.
If the current law passes , god forbid it wont. It is indeed scary to many : Becoz its primarily becoz of all backlog processing centre Labors, H1 sixth year extensions etc. I dont know how the heck designed this draft and i am sure all those senators wouldnt havebeen aware of all these H1B , GC Employment based numbers some staffer would have done this .

Numerous students on F1 visa applied 485 and got their GC these years.
One's I-485 can be filed only for visas with dual intent status. For instance, an F visa or a B2 visa person (currently not dual intent visas) cannot apply for I-485. This was the basis on which I made that statement. Everyone is free to interpret differently. Again, I am not an attorney and I might be wrong.

I took out a loan from HDFC last year in India. Their service was decent and their rates were also low. No prepayment penalty after 1 year. You can check your balances online and they now offer electronic payments also. ICICI has higher rates, so I wouldn't recommend. SBI requires lot of paperwork and processing time, so you should weigh this in before approaching them.

The numbers are assumptions and NOT facts. Most of these numbers have actually been pulled from other places or based on some rationale (for example 750,000 from Matthew Oh site, 5 minutes/EAD based on what need to be done to print out a card and pack in an envelop)
Workforce of 30 though is a gross assumption. Bigger the number better it is. So we may actually want to question USCIS if there are any resource constraints.

What about receipt notices? Isn't that teh first step? I do not believe it will take 20 months to get a receipt notice. Are you sure they have only 30 folks for EAD. Is that a known fact? What if it is 300?

Plus, think about it this way, without this current, you won't be able to file your 485 anyway till next year.

and as much as i would like this rumour to come true (will create another lawsuit from 80% people who haven't filed).. i still wont give in...
finally..even if the lawsuit is filed..it would take years to settle by that time i hope and pray everyone gets to file..

Guys as it states both you and your spouse need to have an SSN not ITIN.
So if one has ssn other has ITIN you are not qualified.
The stimulus package is $600 for each member who has an SSN. Therefore if both you and your wife had an SSN you would get $1200. In the case where one spouse has an ITIN, the remaining spouse still is eligible for the $600. As mentioned in this post earlier you can always file 1040X one you receive the SSN for your spouse and claim the additional $600.

Cmon stop the rumour. Just because some of you sent the application on 2nd doesnt mean that they will honour it. If and if they do , there will be much more serious and valid lawsuit, because they've already issued a revision from 2nd July. Under law they have to give everyone a fair and equal chance.
So pls stop cooking rumours from your lawyer. He simply doesn't want to pay back your fee and keeping your hope high..

You can check status of your case on line:
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp
It will show you "Last Updated Date". Soft LUD means status of case is not changed but they updated LUD, virtually means they touched your file.

I was dealing with GMAC Bank, But I know friends who used Wells Fargo & BAC with the status of AOS pending.
these People generally get nervous when they see a pending status, Approved I-140 will definitely help.

If we look back at the 2000 recession, it caused a major shift in the way US companies looked at outsourcing. Pre-2000 many companies didn't believe that all jobs could be outsourced. 2000 recession forced them to think otherwise.
These kind of bills will cause a re-thinking in corporate america's thought process. They will think of creative ways to outsource. Against this senator's hopes, it will reduce jobs here.

I was going thru your question, I am kind of in the same boat. My PD is Jan'04 in EB3. Filed 485 for self and wife in Jul'07.
